Geurilla Marketing via YouTube et al.
It appears that some big corporations are noticing the benefits of viral marketing engine YouTube Warner Music has evidently realized that its much easier to play along with video sharing sites than to try to issue C&D orders every day for users’ potential copyright infringement. Warner is offering access to its music video library for a cut of the advertising profits.
This seems, to me, a no-brainer as Warner is getting paid to have consumers watch advertisements for their music products. Of course, they could go the way of Universal Music group and indignantly demand tens of millions of dollars from video sharing sites that have the nerve to host user-created content with copyrighted background music.
